JVC opens pathways to home-use multimedia with DVC camcorders
Article Abstract:
The market for camcorders has expanded with the introduction of the Mini DV format, also referred to as Digital Videocassette or DVC. The DVC format has expanded the market which was composed mostly of hobbyists because it provided the features of compactness, light weight and excellent image quality. DVC has also removed some of the problems involved in the usage of the older camcorder models. The Victor Company of Japan Ltd is one of the major exponents of DVC technology in camcorders.

DVC formats paint 'picture of health' for camcorders
Article Abstract:
The Digital Videocassette format has become the dominant technology used in camcorders in Japan where it now has an 80% share of total camcorder sales. While the shift is significant, use of the DVC format has not yet resulted in the overall expansion of the camcorder market. While manufacturers all have the same objective of discovering new uses and increasing demand for camcorders, they have differing tactics for achieving this goal.
