Chief executive officers in general industry earn an average of 75% more than electric utility executives in companies with revenues over $100 million. Engineers are also paid less at utilities than in general industry. Presently 15 utilities are using incentive-pay plans for executives, and 57% of the utilities surveyed are interested in developing incentive plans.
