CommunicAsia2000 draws record crowd
Article Abstract:
The CommunicAsia2000 show in Singapore drew a record attendance of 46,000 people, an increase of 48% from 1999. Of these attendees, 34% came from foreign countries. A primary factor cited behind the success of the event is the economic recovery in many Asian nations. Also, around 2,000 firms from 56 foreign countries participated in the show. These include Alcatel NV, LM Ericsson Telefon AB, Lucent Technologies Inc, Motorola Inc, Nokia Osakeyhtiot AB, NTT DoCoMo, Panasonic Co and Philips Gloeilampenfabrieken NV.

Singapore exhibits stress bluetooth technology, digital broadcasting

Telecommunications companies in the Asia-Pacific region gathered in Singapore for the staging of the Asian International Communications and Information Technology Exhibition and Conference in Jun 2000. CommunicAsia2000 was attended by 2,009 companies from 56 countries. The conference signified the intensifying competition for a growing share of the telecommunications market among multinational telecommunication equipment manufacturers and international service providers.

Nokia, InterDigital sign wireless communications deal
Article Abstract:
Nokia Osakeyhtiot AB of Finland and InterDigital Communications Corp of King of Prussia, PA, have signed a licensing agreement in which Nokia will use InterDigital's wireless technology that allows Internet access and handles data communications. Nokia will pay $70 million for the right to use InterDigital's time-division multiple access and code-division multiple access technologies. The Nokia wireless system with the InterDigital technology will be launched in 2000.
