MDs, lower prices, female buyers push Japan's set stereo market

Shipments of stereo sets totaled 1.43 million units during the first half of 2000, representing a 4.4% over the same period in 1999. The remarkable growth of the market can be traced to three factors. These are the rising popularity of MiniDisc components; lower prices; and the growing number of female buyers.
