Hitachi Ltd has introduced its DVD-CAM, which is a digital camcorder using DVD-RAM discs as its recording media. The product exemplifies the company's DVD World concept based on DVD-RAM media. The DVD-CAM can record 30 minutes of moving images per side at 6Mbps. It is easy to use for taking and editing family pictures. Users can transfer data to personal computers to enhance editing. Recording is automatically made on empty portions of discs.

Canon Inc has introduced the IXY DV Digital Videocasette (DVC) camcorder. The product is a follow-up to the IXY Digital models. It weighs 390g and measures 48mm wide by 106mm high by 86mm deep. The dimensions make it one of the smallest, lightest digital cmacorderrs yet. It comes with a 2.5-in, thin-film transistor color LCD nd a 1/4-in progressive scanning CCD with around 680,000 pixels.
