Digital upgrade continues
Article Abstract:
The use of digital wireless telephones is increasing due to the numerous pre-paid options and attractive rate being offered by personal communications services. The majority of the 70 to 80 million wireless subscribers are still using analog networks and they are expected to take advantage of the improved rate plans of carriers. Subscribers who want to upgrade their phones from analog to digital, however, are being asked to pay more than new customers for the same phone. Carriers are against the practice of just turning off analog phones so that consumers can sign on to become wireless subscribers.

Retail does the new A/V 2-step
Article Abstract:
Audio/video distributors are benefitting from the return of manufacturers and dealers to two-step distribution. Distributors are adopting new strategies to tap the niche markets such as the custom installers, new retail locations, expanded territories and Internent sales fulfillment. The new opportunities were provided by manufacturers which reduced their in-house sales forces and direct customer base, giving the balance to independent distributors.
