GT-9600 flatbed scanners
Article Abstract:
Seiko Epson Corp of Japan has introduced a new flatbed scanner in 1999. The GT-9600 A4 scanner can handle 12 bits and 800 dpi in optical resolution for each color and allows input and output of 4,096 gradations and 68.7 billion colors. It is also equipped with the latest TWAIN driver and is said to have a scanning speed that is 30% faster than similar models in the market. It is available through Epson Sales Corp and sells for $860.

N656U flatbed scanners
Article Abstract:
Canon has introduced the N656U scanner that is 5 mm thinner than previous models and can be used with notebook computers. The company has also unveiled the 1,200-dpi N1220U scanner and the D660U scanner for on-film image data. The N656U and the N1220U use contact image sensors and support the A4 formats. On the other hand, the D660U is used with a CCD and uses Canon's Varos image-scanning method for capturing images from 35mm film.

GT-7600 UF flatbed scanner from Seiko Epson
Article Abstract:
Seiko Epson Corp has introduced a GT-7600UF flatbed scanner that is suitable for reproducing photos from digital cameras and capable of delivering 1,2000 dpi output. The scanner is equipped with a transparency unit that can read both positive and negative films. Seiko Epson also unveiled the special color scanner, GT-6600US that features ease of use and provides 600dpi output.
