Hitachi zooms in on digital TV markets
Article Abstract:
Hitachi Ltd is strengthening its market base for digital TVs in the US and Europe. In the US, the firm has launched a 61-in projectio TV with a 16:9 aspect ratio which can receive and reproduce high-definition TV signals. The equipment is equipped with a tuner and supports terrestrial and satelite digital broadcasts. In Europe, where Hitachi has a color TV plant in the UK, the firm has launched its 28- and 32-in wide-screen CRT TVs that support conventional terrestrial and digital broadcasting.

Broadcast suppliers jostle for digital gold in brisk U.S. market
Article Abstract:
The gradual shift to digital broadcasting in the US has prompted broadcasting equipment manufacturers to develop products for the digital broadcasting industry. These digital broadcasting devices include camcorders, data collection and editing systems, optical recorders and players, digital cameras and digital set-top boxes. These companies include Matsushita Electric Industrial Company Ltd, Sony Corp, Victor Company of Japan Ltd, Pioneer New Media Technology Inc and Teac Corp.

Sony zooms in on projection TVs for digital broadcasting
Article Abstract:
Sony Corp's entry product into the US digital TV market is the KW-34HD1 high-definition (HD) TV with a 34-in screen and a built-in decoder. The set, which was rolled out in Nov 1998, has a 16:9 aspect ratio and features a 3D digital comb filter, a dynamic picture processor, a velocity modulation scanning function and a dynamic focus circuitry. In Apr 1999, Sony launched a 65-in HD projection TV, KWP-65HD1, which offers the same and some improved features of the 34-in model.
