How to protect communications lines from high substation voltages
Article Abstract:
Protecting wire-line communications circuits from ground potential rise takes the form of isolating the line from the source of extraneous current. This is effected either through an insulating device or a neutralizing transformer which increases the effective grounding surface. One of the latest innovation in grounding is the use of the grounding cement, which increases grounding by a factor of 200.
