Internal development spurs A/V gains at Matsushita Malaysia
Article Abstract:
Matsushita Audio Video (MAV) is Matsushita's 14th company in Malaysia and its first audio and video manufacturing facility outside Japan. The company started production of audio and video equipment in 1992 and has attained an annual capacity of 1.25 million units. About 60% of its products are shipped to Asia while the rest are sold in Central and South America. Continuous improvement and total commitment to quality has helped MAV achieved ISO 9002 certification in Sep 1993.

Value-added VCRs form focus of JVC-Philips venture in Malaysia
Article Abstract:
Philips and JVC Video Malaysia (PJVM) is a joint venture between Philips Electronics NV of Netherlands and Victor Company of Japan (JVC), focusing on the production of VCRs. PJVM produces 3.6 million VCR units to JVC and Philips on a 50:50 ratio. It produces the S-VHS, the S100 and V100 S-VHS Extended Technology models for JVC. For 1998, PJVM expects to manufacture 300,000 S-VHS ET decks, which would account for 10% of JVC's value-added models.
