Japan's electronics exports up 14.7% in first half
Article Abstract:
The Electronic Industries Assn of Japan and Japan's Ministry of Finance reported that exports of Japanese-made electronic products grew by 14.7% to 6.76 trillion yen during the first half of 2000. Both organizations added that if that rate is sustained in the second half, the country's exports will show a year-on-year increase for the first time since 1997. Exports of passive components and connectors as well as semiconductors and liquid crystals registered a 20% increase.

Japanese electronics production to increase 9.2%
Article Abstract:
The Electronic Industries Assn of Japan (EIAJ) expects domestic production of electronic goods in Japan to reach 25.69 trillion yen in 2000, 9.2% higher than in 1999. The increase resulted from strong worldwide demand for information technology equipment, including cell phones, Internet appliances and electronic home appliances. The EIAJ estimates consumer electronics production to rise by 3.5% and 3% for its industrial counterpart.
