A number of alternative input devices are appearing on the market. The most common of these devices are light pens, touch tablets and measuring devices. Koala's KoalaPad has been on the Softsel Hot List since October, 1983. Sales of touch pads approached 250,000 units in the second half of 1983 and are expected to double in 1984. Other popular touch pads are PowerPad from Chalk Board and Animation Station from Suncom. Atari's AtariLab science learning system is alone in the measuring devices market. Suppliers of alternative input devices plan to increase consumer awareness with aggressive promotional and advertising efforts.

TI's Home Computer Exodus: A Not-So-Fond Farewell

Article Abstract:

Texas Instrument's withdrawal from the home computer market left some retailers with large inventories and obsolete software. TI maintains that it will continue honoring warranties and that software and peripherals will continue to be produced. Out-of- warranty repairs will present a problem. Continued software and peripheral support is a fantasy.
