Korean digital audio players brace for competition
Article Abstract:
The Korean securities house, Goodmorning Shinhan has predicted that the market for digital audio players will reach US $ 3.4 billion worldwide by 2007 as the demand for these electronics goods available with enhanced features grows rapidly. Korean market itself has seen a very high demand to the extent that shipment data for 2003 has been 165.6 billion with local companies perceiving threat from foreign companies. Korean companies on their part are looking for exploring overseas markets.

The statistical information pertaining to the shipment data of recordable compact discs (CD-Rs), and as reported by the Japan Recording Media Industries Association (JRMIA), are discussed. The data reflects a downward trend. On the other hand, the demand for digital versatile discs has been growing at double pace.
