First find distance to fault - then thump
Article Abstract:
Reducing the number of thumps to find cable faults can be achieved with the use of a time-domain reflectometer (TDR). The TDR displays pulse reflections produced with and without high voltage application to the cable. This is used to estimate the distance of the fault.
