Matsushita queues pace-setting A/V sets for market growth

Matsushita Electric Industrial Company Ltd is bolstering effort to market MiniDisc (MD) audio products across Europe beginning in autumn 1999, focusing on Germany and the UK. The company, which often markets products under the Panasonic and Technics brands, has also started selling MD audio products in Asia, concentrating on regions like Taiwan and Hong Kong. In Japan, Matsushita started offering MD deck-style components, minicomponent sytems and portable systems.

Semiconductors, cellular phones lead sales growth in latest Toshiba report
Article Abstract:
Toshiba Corp of Japan reported that its consolidated net sales for FY 1999 ended Mar 31, 2000 increased 8% to $54.239 billion. The largest contributors to Toshiba's sales growth in the Japanes market were semiconductors, cellular telephones, liquid crystal displays and personal computers. The company's operating income skyrocketed 300% to $953 million, representing the first gain in four years.
