Maytag is currently developing innovations in the cooking category. The company, which is selling a line of free-standing cooking ranges called Maytag Advanced Cooking System, is not telling what the cooking innovation might be other than to confirm that the company's research and development division is working on a cooking equipment of the future. Maytag Vice President of Cooking Mark Buss and his team expressed confidence that a year from today, the mystery product will make consumers regard Maytag as a cooking firm.

Portable CD, MD players make some noise

Consumer audio equipment makers have launched their latest product lines of portable CD and MiniDisc players. Sharp is offering its lines which include the MD-MT15, MD-MT821, MD-MS301, MD-MS702 and the MD-MS722, which feature shock-resistant memory and automatic sensitive recording. Sony has introduced its flagship portable MiniDisc player MZ0E35, which it claimed is only slightly bigger than the MiniDisc itself. The radar detector marketing spin

Cobra, Beltronics and Uniden are introducing new radar detector models which provide more detection bands and convenience features. Cobra's top of the line model is the ESD-6700 which has six-band detector line. Beltronics' Series 7 radar line fully digital detector and its BEL 990 is able to detect X, X city, K, Ka and Superwide Ka signals. Uniden's LRD6250SWS and LRD6275SWS models are able to detect UltraLyte laser guns.
