NEC turbo-charges toll-collection business
Article Abstract:
NEC is developing an automated toll-collection system for use in Japanese highways, which the company hopes would grow into a 100 billion yen business in the future. The proposed automated toll collection would ultimately incorporate wireless systems, cameras, indicators, communications-center systems, IC card systems and security systems. NEC is also working on network systems and systems that will communicate with vehicles on the road.

CRM3100 wireless module by Qualcomm, Matsushita
Article Abstract:
Matsuhita Electronic Components Ltd and Qualcomm CDMA Technologies have collaborated to introduce a wireles module that responds to triple mode covering AMPS, CDMA and PCS. Labeled CRM3110, the wireless module features Matsushita's wireless circuit module technology and Qualcomm's CDMA chip set hardware and software. The debuting electronic device also consumes 20% less power compared to dual mode wireless module.
