Article Abstract:
The idea of connecting the car to the Internet has spawned a number of innovative products. These include Clarion's Windows CE AutoPC, the Windows 98 Q-PC Real Car Computer and other closed platform devices. Visteon has released an in-dash, voice-activated computer while Motorola has featured a prototype iRadio at the International Consumer Electronics Show in Jan 2000. Delphi Automotive Systems has already demonstrated its commitment to the trend with the Communiport Mobile MultiMedia system.

Samsung to enter fridge market
Article Abstract:
Samsung Electronics Company Ltd is shifting focus from its microwave, vacuum cleaner and room air conditioner lines to compete in the US refrigerator market. The company is launching a 25- and a pair of 26.9- cubic-foot refrigerators. The move will be facilitated by Samsung Consumer Electronics Division in a bid to make the company a major appliance manufacturer in the country.

Consumer electronics manufacturers have launched their latest lines of DVD players for automobiles. Pioneer has introduced its AVX-P7000CD stand-alone motorized, in-dash DVD player that also includes an in-dash, single-CD player, with a suggested retail price of $1,300. Audiovox has launched its new PAV-1 mobile theater composed of a doube-DIN AM/FM radio with a fully-logic cassette player, CD changer controller and a five-inch TV. Other new entries are Alpine's DVA-5200 mobile DVD player, Panasonic's CX-DV1500 car DVD player and Clarion's VMA7483 5.8-inch LCD active-matrix monitor with a motorized screen.
