Polymer lithium cells enter mass production stage
Article Abstract:
Japanese battery manufacturers have completed the development stage of the polymer lithium batter cell technology and are preparing to undertake a full-scale production of such cells in 1999. The market for polymer lithium cells, which are designed to replace lithium ion cells, is expected to reach 20 billion yen in 1999 and 60 billion yen in 2000. Japanese companies planning to capitalize on this trend include Matsushita Battery Industrial Company Ltd, Hitachi Maxwell Ltd and Sony Corp.

Electromagnetic absorption panels
Article Abstract:
Hitachi Metals has introduced a new electromagnetic absorption panel that can absorb more than 90% of ghost waves from TV broadcasting systems. The absorption panel is to be installed between fireproof boards and is geared for the VHF and UHF ranges but at different incident angles. The ferrite material is 20 to 30mm wide, 4 to 15mm tall and 200mm long. They are also 25% lighter than other conventional models.
