Second-Half Outlook: Suppliers Scramble for Position Amidst Shakeout, Shakeup Talk
Article Abstract:
Computer hardware, software and peripheral suppliers are expecting the most competitive second half in the industry's history. Talk of a shakeout is taken seriously. The Apple IIc and the IBM PCJr will probably control the upper end of the home computer market. The overall home computer market should reach over five million units by the end of 1984. Competition amongst software suppliers will result in a record number of titles being released. The software industry is intent on identifying and developing new categories. Entertainment titles continue to dominate the market.
