Sharp maps A/V strategies in Europe, expands development

Sharp Corp will raise its profile in Europe by introducing innovative products at the International Funkaustellung show in Berlin, Germany, in Sep 1999. The Japanese consumer electronics firm will unveil audio-video equipment, home appliances and information equipment that all share a common LCD technology for which Sharp is known. With its 'Crystal Clear Company' theme, the company hopes to capture 25% of the European market for 28- to 32-inch wide-screen flat TVs.

Sanyo revamps central marketing plan to handle euro
Article Abstract:
Sanyo Electric Co Ltd has established its European audio-video equipment sales headquarters in Munich, Germany. Sanyo Fisher Vertriebs GmbH will coordinate the parent company's marketing activities in Europe from a single office in response to the introduction of a single European currency. The company plans to launch a semi-flat wide-screen color digital TV with a set-top box in Europe in early 2000.
