Transformer foundation completed in five days using helical anchors
Article Abstract:
Illinois Power Co. was able to complete its upgrade from their 12.8 MVA single-phase transformers to its 93 MVA 3-phase transformers by using helical anchors in the construction of the transformer foundation. The use of helical anchors reduced construction time significantly.

Surge-suppression resistors make comeback
Article Abstract:
Bonneville Power Administration (BPA) convinced Pacific Air Switch Corp. to build surge-suppression resistors for 500-kV transmission systems. Pacific Air helped BPA avoid having to redesign six substations using circuit breakers that would have cost a minimum of $3 million.
