UK: LIGHTSWITCH AIMS TO BOOST ENERGY EFFICIENCY
Article Abstract:
A new programme called Lightswitch devised by the Energy Saving Trust and the Lighting Industry Federation hopes to boost energy efficiency lighting in the industrial sector. It will aim to boost the uptake of high-frequency fluorescent fittings from 14% to 50% of new sales and aims to cut the share held by old T12 tubes of the tubular fluorescent market from 25% to 10% and finally to increase sales of light controls 100% from GB[pound] 10mn to GB[pound] 20mn annually. If these aims are met, a 30% reduction in energy used in the commercial sector for lighting could be achieved.
