XR system crosses the line into superior-resolution images
Article Abstract:
Sony Corp. Japan, has developed its EXtended Resolution (XR) technology for 8 mm camcorders. XR technology has improved the horizontal image resolution for low contrast, high frequency video signals in Hi8 cameras by 10% and by 20% in standard 8 mm camcorders. Furthermore, camcorders using XR technology remain fully compatible with non-XR 8 mm camcorders. XR processes manipulate signals near the audio band but do not affect the audio signal processes or audio quality.
