A need to look beyond Europe for business
Article Abstract:
Managing director of specialist cable management manufacturer Mita (UK) Ltd. Eric Payne, believes that the European market is not as attractive as is sometimes claimed, partly because there is a local manufacturer for virtually all electrical products. While Mita's main market is the UK, the company sells its products to countries that comply with British electrical wiring practice standards. Export markets include the Middle East and Far East. Mita, which celebrates its 12th anniversary in 1992, believes that it offers unrivalled service, experience and innovation in the cable management field.

Fibre optics light up the future
Article Abstract:
Fibre optics have many applications in science and technology, especially communications, and the technique is now beginning to be widely used in commercial lighting installations. Various diameter optical cables can be used and a typical installation employs up to 200 m of cable running in a loop from and back to the light source. The advantages are that the cable can follow awkwardly shaped paths, the lighted area has no high voltages present and the light is even throughout the cable length. Installations have recently been made in restaurants in Leicester Square and Covent Garden, London.
