A new resin cuts the cost of removing impurities in chlor-alkali plants
Article Abstract:
Nippon Rensui Co., based in Tokyo, Japan, has introduced to the market an amphoteric ion-exchange resin, which can eliminate sodium sulfate and sodium chlorate impurities from brine in chlor-alkali facilities. The resin was developed to be used for plants that depend on membrane technology. These facilities normally transform around half of the chloride to chlorine, and the impurities congregate in the recycled brine, which is replaced by fresh sodium chloride solution. Takashi Ishii, sales manager for the Plant Division of the firm, said impurities are currently eliminated through precipitation with barium chloride or by removing a portion of the brine.

Pinch trap puts the squeeze on steam
Article Abstract:
Ogontz Corp. of Willow Grove, PA, is launching the pinch steam trap, a thermostatic steam trap that is regulated by the temperature of condensate. The new pinch steam trap removes the downtime usually effected by steam trap clogging and has no moving section according to Ogontz chief operating officer Vincent Pettinato. The pinch steam trap features the ability to let accumulated dirt particles to pass through. Ogontz offers two models of the steam trap, each with different working pressures, 50-150 psi and 0-100 psi.
