Building in quality
Article Abstract:
Quality improvement concepts and techniques can play a very valuable role when a family is undertaking a major project, such as renovating an old house. Spending a considerable amount of time planning a project of this kind can greatly save on time at a later stage. The first step could be to brainstorm decision-making criteria for the renovation process, then consider the jobs that need to be carried out as part of the renovation process. Quality improvement concepts can also be used for tasks such as planning vacations and developing family traditions.

Team technology: finding the right mix to improve team performance during process-improvement tasks
Article Abstract:
Total quality management offers a structured approach to process improvement. Research analyzing 36 sessions of industrial production teams carrying out a process-improvement task indicates that a structured approach brings more balanced participation among team members. However, the structured approach does not significantly influence team performance. In fact, social elements have a more important impact on team performance. These elements include the level of conversation in a group during an unstructured task.
