Buying radios is adding quality to Madison's city government

Article Abstract:

A 1987 study of the purchase of portable radios by the Madison Police Department reveals the important points to be taken into consideration when making a purchase. An evaluation of the life cycle costing, reliability, maintenance, cost, productivity and safety criteria of the product should be made. Other important aspects include the evaluation of the purchase and documentation of the process used. Records maintained about the customer service of the supplier and the performance of the equipment will help in future purchases of a similar nature.
