CAD crosses the Rubicon
Article Abstract:
Autodesk has introduced its low cost Autodesk Inventor CAD package combining ease of use with the ability to handle very large and complex models. The software is able to handle models with over 10,000 components on a PC. Models produced ar compatible with AutoCAD and Mechanical desktop, with facilities including 2D manipulation into different orientations and allowing 2D models to be shown in 3D.

Fluid flow analysis breaks new barriers
Article Abstract:
Adaptive Research Corporation's (Huntsville, AL) new 'ARCflo' package allows computational analysis of fluid flow, modelling what happens to turbulent streams when solid objects appear in them. The package can be used to model the behaviour of a fairing detaching itself from a missile moving at Mach 2. The package requires CFD2000 software, and hardware, which is quite cheap.
