Capacitors make assault on rechargeable batteries
Article Abstract:
Oxley Developments is collaborating with the University of Leeds to develop new types of capacitors. The team, led by Dr Andrew Taverner, has successfully developed a high capacity chip multi layer capacitor for electronics, which uses relaxors, a new family of dielectrics. Supercapacitors have also been developed in collaboration with Australia's cap-XX Pty and CSIRO, who have been awarded a $4.4 million grants from the Australian government to develop new devices. Applications for the new technology include load levelling for electric power and mobile telecommunications.

Multiple mouldings offer all functions
Article Abstract:
Three shot moulding technology has improved substantially and now offers a greater combination of materials which are expected to be used in a wide range of complex applications for many consumer electrical products. Materials are combined using ultrasound techniques and providing that the choice of materials is correct the products are expected to have greater strength, feel and will cost less. A one-piece mobile telephone is currently under development.
