Choosing appropriate sample subgroup sizes for control charts
Article Abstract:
The Statistical Competency Center at IBM-Rochester, MN has come up with an easier way of selecting an appropriate sample size for control charts. The center suggests creating charts that undeniably illustrates the relationship between process shifts and the sensitivity of control charts to detect them through the use of varying subgroup sample sizes. To employ these charts efficiently, there is a need to link the capability of the process to the quality requirements. It is also significant to measure the control chart's sensitivity and the frequency with which the subgroups are derived.
