Coaching engineers
Article Abstract:
The coaching philosophy has become popular in the engineering industry. The ability to coach project team members and coworkers requires people skills that have become invaluable in the marketplace. However, many managers are still hesitant to try the coaching approach due to confrontation reluctance, lack of time, fear of offending and fear of failure. Good coaches often encourage employees, take time to listen, set a good example, never use their rank, praise employees for good work, treat employees as persons and inform employees of company practices and events.

Improving the performance appraisal process
Article Abstract:
The management of employee performance appraisals in companies can be enhanced in three ways. The company must evaluate the performance evaluation forms and processes with regard to fairness, objectivity and simplicity. In addition, supervisors should learn how to identify and avoid potential problems in the appraisal process. Finally, the company should encourage its workers to take responsibility for their individual development and well-being.
