Companies continue to embrace quality programs - but has TQ generated more enthusiasm than results?
Article Abstract:
Most corporations are into programs which promote total quality management (TQM). However, efforts at achieving TQM are often not enough as some companies lack the commitment to really pursue high quality standards. The 'Rath and Strong Total Quality Report Card' shows that many US firms still need to improve on quality enhancement programs. On the other hand, companies with successful TQM programs are often the same firms with successful business strategy.

Article Abstract:
A study on the merits of total quality management (TQM) implementation indicates that US businesses should not disregard TQM. The study also shows that several organizations have benefited from TQM after more than three years of practice and that businesses will most likely benefit more as they continue implementing TQM. Leadership commitment and training have been identified by the survey as the most important factors for the attainment of TQM.
