Contain & control emissions of ultrapure gases
Article Abstract:
Increasingly tighter controls in handling procedures are being required in every stage of the manufacturing cycle of ultrapure gases of high purity and in large quantities. Greenfield construction provides the best opportunity to manufacture gas products which achieve the cleanliness standards of semiconductor fabricators and are treated in compliance with environmental and occupational safety regulations. Thus, plants for the purification and packaging of gases with different handling requirements are being designed and built.

Ultrapure materials
Article Abstract:
Touhoku University Institute of Metal Research and Osaka National Research Institute researchers have been able to melt glass in a quasi-zero gravity state using a strong magnetic field. The process provides advantages in the processing of diamagnetic substances such as glass and plastics which are inclined to position themselves at right angles to magnetic lines of force. Researchers were able to create a true glass sphere with a diameter of 7 mm using the process.

Using ultrapure plastic tubing
Article Abstract:
The production of very small semiconductors, exotic chemical materials and sensitive biopharmaceuticals require the utmost levels in cleanliness. Trace amounts of particulate matters such as ions or metal could cause very costly contamination. The primary source of contamination is the fluid-handling system used to transport ultrapure fluids. A discussion on the three major factors involved in production tubing for pristine processing is presented.
