Control of particulate processes modeled
Article Abstract:
A general method for the synthesis of non-linear, easy-to-implement, feedback controllers for particulate processes was developed by chemical engineers at the University of California at Los Angeles, CA. The controllers are synthesized using Lyapunov's techniques on the basis of finite-dimensional approximations of the population balances. Researchers also addressed the robustness of the controllers within the singular pertubation framework.

Take SO2 out of the mix
Article Abstract:
Bionomic Industries Inc of Mahwah, NJ, has disclosed that it has successfully started up and tested its patented Rotabed scrubber in an sulphur dioxide removal application at a Pacific Northwest pulp mill bleach plant. Based on the results of the test, the company claims that the Rotabed delivers a throughput that is four to six times greater than typical packed towers or scrubbers.
