Delivery performance improvement by controlled work-order release and work-center load balancing
Article Abstract:
A study investigated the application of a more sophisticated, proactive and reactive form of controlled, load-based work-order release for production scenarios where, within a certain time frame, there is knowledge of future planned work orders. The analysis further investigated the use of a balancing mechanism wherein work orders were released in sequence such that the remaining work loads for the different work centers were as even as possible. It was found that using the balancing mechanism with the reactive proactive load-based work-order release rule led to significant improvements in performance.

Reserve production capacity in a production inventory system
Article Abstract:
A nonlinear single-item, two-stage periodic review production inventory system is developed. The system operates under the assumption of restricted production quantity in terms of both the production capacity in each process and the available inventory quantity in semifinished product stock. A controllable parameter for reserve production capacity is developed to make possible the numerical analysis of the system. A new rule for finished and semifinished production ordering is presented.

Perishable inventory control with two types of customers and different selling prices under the warehouse capacity constraint
Article Abstract:
Previous research has identified two types of customers in inventory models of nonperishable products, namely, high-priority customers and low-priority ones. The former buys only the newest commodity while the latter buys either one. Expanding on these findings, an inventory model for a single perishable product with both high-priority and low-priority customers, different selling prices and the constraint of warehouse capacity is developed.
