Graphical methods and principles for data analysis II: Austria first? Zambia last?
Article Abstract:
The information displayed in a graph should be easily obvious to a reader. The methods used in plotting business data are usually improper. The data could be arranged into groups representing a particular characteristic and plotted, instead of arranging the data in an alphabetical manner, as it is, in the graph of the per capita income versus countries, in the book, 'The Elements of Graphing Data,' by William Cleveland. A good graph is one that makes easy, what is otherwise difficult to see.

Two real examples of principal component analysis of curves
Article Abstract:
Two real-world examples of principal component analysis (PCA) illustrate the application in information management. PCA reduces the information in multivariate traces to a small number of weighted averages available in curve traces. The first example is a solid rocket motor moisture study with the data consisting of 96 curves. The other example is a simulated distillation by gas chromatography consisting of curves that show results of simulated gasoline distillation.

Examples and enhancements
Article Abstract:
The bootstrapping method of error analysis in hole positioning data is discussed. The distribution of total error from target can be determined by calculating the three-sigma limits of the specifications. The method gives a more realistic estimate of confidence intervals than the traditional method of calculating the mean and and median for skew distributions.
