Lighting control via busbar made easy
Article Abstract:
UK busbar trunking market leader Telemecanique Ltd. is to add a dedicated programmable logic controller (plc) to its K system power distribution and control system in spring 1992. The K system consists of transmitters, receivers and filters that plug into either Canalis KL or Canalis KNT busbar trunking. The new plc will enable the use of a hand-held terminal to control the programming of an entire installation, and will allow a narrower level of control in lighting patterns and programmes. Sufficient memory for controlling 64 distinct lighting zones is provided by the plc software.

Lighting system cuts labour costs
Article Abstract:
Flexible lighting installations for offices can be obtained at less cost than with conventional systems by using ECS Energy Conservation Systems Ltd's Wiremaster system. Consisting of an area control unit and a number of lighting connection units, the Wiremaster system is quicker to install than conventional lighting systems and uses fewer materials. A comparison of the use of traditional wiring methods and of Wiremaster equipment for a Business Park office development reveals a cost of 29,871.04 pounds sterling in the first case and 28,325.36 pounds sterling in the second.

Few doubt that busbar will grow - but at what rate
Article Abstract:
Electrical distribution system manufacturers discuss the factors affecting the choice of comventional cabling or busbar systems. The manufacturers agree on the price advantage of cable and the flexibility of busbar systems. They predict a growing market share for busbar reflecting the increasing demand for high voltage and flexible installations. The firms consider questions of market share, flexibility, price, and suitability for particular applications.
