Lubrication scotches old engine problems
Article Abstract:
Collins Motor Corporation (CMC) and the Department of Mechanical Engineering at Melbourne University have resolved problems with the Scotch Yoke (SY) concept engine, originally used as a steam-driven water pump. The engine's use was restricted by friction problems which have now been resolved with a redesigned linear bearing. The engine is currently attracting interest from a number of car makers.
