Macroeconomic analyses of inventories: learning from practice
Article Abstract:
The analysis of inventories from a macroeconomic point of view is best achieved by using the degree of aggregation used by economists Blinder and Maccini which does not sacrifice important detail such as the stages located along the inventory stream. Consideration of these stages would show that firms' inventory levels are not affected by changes in interest rates, which is an observation not found in many macroeconomic approaches.

The new management paradigm: an extension through the IFAM perspective
Article Abstract:
The Integrated Finance, Accounting, Management (IFAM) approach to inventory management is a Just-in-Time variant that represents an integrated attempt to account for both total quality and a firm's financial value. The IFAM incorporates a decomposition method to enable the analysis of decisions such as inventory analysis that plays a part in determining the firm's value and change in that value based on investors' actions.

The undershoot of the reorder point: tests of an approximation
Article Abstract:
Analysis of the accuracy of a popular tool for approximating the mean and variance of the undershoot of the reorder point inventory systems shows that such a tool should not be applied to cases characterized by low variance demand distributions. This recommendation applies even when large order sizes are involved. Care should also be exercised in using the approximation on multi-echelon systems.
