New High-Speed Array Processor Provides 64-Megabyte Data Memory and FORTRAN Software Development System

Article Abstract:

Numerix Corporation has introduced the MARS-432 Array Processor. The MARS-432 is especially designed for scientific, simulation, and signal processing applications and features very high-speed processing times. The MARS-432 is available with two different memory configurations and allows high level access via a FORTRAN Development System which consists of a FORTRAN Compiler, Linker, and Debugging Monitor.

Performance of various computers using standard linear equations software in a Fortran environment

Article Abstract:

This note compares the performance of different computer systems while solving dense systems of linear equations using the LINPACK software in a Fortran environment. About 100 computers, ranging from a CRAY X-MP to the 68000-based systems such as the Apollo and SUN Workstations to IBM PCs, are compared. (Reprinted with permission of the publisher.)
