9000 standards?
Article Abstract:
Manufacturing companies will reap many benefits from registering with ISO 9000 quality standards. Chief among these is the increased confidence of customers which, incidentally, has been the driving force for the trend towards standards registration. Furthermore, although registration is not considered a legal need for access to foreign markets, it nevertheless becomes a key factor in the eventual success of the company in its drive towards global competitiveness.

Behind the stars and stripes: quality in the USA
Article Abstract:
The status of ISO 9000 standards compliance in the US is encouraging as more US companies have gotten over the bad publicity that these standards acquired earlier and have thrown their support behind such. The US system differs from that of the UK in that in the former, no sector-specific standards exist. Furthermore, implementation in the US only began in 1992. One problem that bothers many small businesses is the high cost of registration.
