New monomer plant planned
Article Abstract:
Solvay Advanced Polymers Inc of Houston, TX, and Dyneon LLC of Oakdale, MN, have formed a joint venture, named Alventia LLC, to build and operate a vinylidene fluoride monomer plant. The planned monomer plant will be built in Decatur, AL, and will have a capacity of 5,000 tons per year. The facility, which is expected to be fully operational by mid-1999, will supply Dyneon's fluoroestatomers plant and SAPI's planned polyvinylidene plant.

Advanced Design Concepts GmbH (ADC) is the resulting company of the joint venture formed by Dow Europe SA, a subsidiary of Dow Chemical Co and Corovin GmbH, a subsidiary of BBA Group PLC. An independent identity, ADC will serve the hygiene, industrial fabrics and the automotive industries, focusing on system design and development based on the partners' materials and fabrication technology skills.
