Novel linear motor offers alternative to pneumatics
Article Abstract:
Copley Motion Systems has developed a linear actuator that uses the design of tubular linear motor and works like a pneumatic actuator but boasts of several unique advantages. The 'Servo Tube' developed by the Basildon-based company comes with DIN/ISO 6431 mountings and is compatible with standard pneumatic actuators and industry standard accessories.

Cogging reduced by magnetic design
Article Abstract:
Cogging can be reduced by angularly off setting the location of the magnets in a pole pair by one quarter of the slot pitch, in advance for one magnet and in retard for the other. Some simple design enhancements that greatly smooth the running of electric motors are presented.
