Partnering for success
Article Abstract:
Partnering is a better alternative to the win-lose approach that governs most construction projects. Partnering considers the diverse interests involved in projects and recognizes that all of these interests can achieve success at the same time. In contrast, only one interest can be successful in the win-lose approach. Fostering a high-trust culture, participating in a partnering workshop, setting goals and objectives and making timely decisions through the issue escalation ladder are essential for successful partnering.

Thoughts on management of acquisitions
Article Abstract:
Aquisitions rarely meet the expectations of the merging parties, despite careful financial and operational planning. Research indicates that the probability of success for acquisitions is below 50%. Mergers of engineering firms follow this pattern. Difficulties seem to stem mainly from human factors and culture incompatibility of the two firms. Suggestions for analyzing culture problems, avoiding conflicts and easing the transition to a new organization are presented.
