Pinball wizards design with FEA
Article Abstract:
A U.S. manufacturer of pinball machines is making use of simulation tools in its engineering design process, including finite element analysis (FEA) software. Stern Pinball engineers have used FEA in re-structuring the key mechanical assembly problem and it has also enabled them to cut the cost of designing and engineering the part.

Food research could lead to low cost crack detection
Article Abstract:
The 'crunchiness' of biscuits is researched and tested by using a simple mechanical force in combination with an acoustic envelope detector. It is observed that similar, but low cost versions of ultrasonic equipment for crack detection applications, within general engineering could be developed.
