Proportional lotsizing and scheduling
Article Abstract:
A new dynamic lotsizing and scheduling model called the Proportional Lotsizing and Scheduling Problem (PLSP) has been proposed. PLSP is based on the assumption that at most, one changeover is permitted within each production period. A new backward-oriented regret-based biased random sampling method is used to solve the model efficiently. PLSP is considered superior to the Discrete Lotsizing and Scheduling Problem and the Continuous Setup Lotsizing Problem in terms of solution quality.

Horizon extension for rolling production schedules: length and accuracy requirements
Article Abstract:
A study was conducted to evaluate length and accuracy requirements for the horizon extension of rolling production schedules. The study applies extensive computational testing through a simulation study and compares the effectivity of the Wagner-Whitin algorithm and the Silver-Meal heuristic. It is shown that horizon extension exhibits valid results for relatively large forecast errors and improves the tested algorithm.

Due-date assignment and single machine scheduling with compressible processing times
Article Abstract:
Two models are developed to evaluate the due-date assignment and single machine scheduling problem. It is assumed that penalties are enforced for the objective function including earliness, tardiness and processing time compressions. Due-dates are assigned by using the common due-date assignment and the slack due-date assignment methods. The optimal solution is derived by using an O(nlogn) algorithm.
