Pulling a vacuum at low cost
Article Abstract:
Croll-Reynolds Co's two-stage ejector system helps Ajinomoto USA's Raleigh, NC, amino-acid production facility to save $1.2 million a year in operating costs. The two-stage ejector replace the liquid-ring pumps that were hooked up to the drying process. Engineers at Ajinomoto chose Croll- Reynolds' two-stage steam ejector over a two-stage mechanical vacuum pump and a two-stage hybrid system of an ejector plus a liquid ring pump.

Slashing conveyor downtime
Article Abstract:
Flexco Inc's mechanical fasteners helped solve frequent failures of conveyor belts at the agricultural-fertilizer plant of Ince, UK-based Kemira Agro UK Ltd. Before Kemira tapped Flexco's fasteners, a group of 20 belts out of the plant's 80 conveyors needed resplicing as often as every three months. With the Flexco SR rivet-hinged fasteners, Kemira can now save around 300,000 pounds sterling ($482,400) annually.
