Radar technology levels up the market

Article Abstract:

Radar techniques for level gaging are increasingly finding onshore applications throughout the chemical process industries. For example, the Saab TankRadar REX system was designed specifically for refineries, tank terminals and the petrochemical industry, where it can measure levels to a precision of plus or minus o.5 mn. Other radar systems include Emerson Process Management's APEX and APEX sentry gages as well as VEGA's Vegapuls 50 series and Siemens Milltronics Process Intruments' IQ Radar 300.

Strong growth seen for infrared products

Article Abstract:

A research study by Wakefield, MA-based Flow Research and Bloomfield Hills, MI-based Ducker Worldwide has revealed that revenues from infrared products are expected to grow at an annual average rate of 10.5% over the 2001-2005 period. Thermal imagers, which are used for preventive maintenance, process control and production applications, have the largest portion of the market for infrared products. The global market reached $504 million in 2000.
