System emulates satellite signals
Article Abstract:
A single Satellite Channel Simulator (SCS) system from NOISE/COM offers the measurement facilities and versatility to reproduce operating signals in all links of a satellite communications system. A rack-mounted configuration that covers a frequency range of 30 to 2500 MHz with a standard channel bandwidth of 10 MHz, the SCS features two multi-path-fading emulators, a dual frequency synthesizer driven by a 10-MHz reference oscillator, an SLE250-4 Satellite Link Emulator (SLE), and Windows-based operating software. Equipped with GPIB capability, the SCS system has multipath-fading signal emulators that add a wide roster of multipath-fading modulation to carriers that include Rayleigh, Nakagami, Rician, Doppler frequency shifts, Suzuki, delay, and log-normal shadowing types.

Peak power meter probes bandwidths
Article Abstract:
Boonton Electronics Corp. of Parsippany, NJ, has made available the model 4530 peak power meter, a device that can calculate the peak power levels of the most current modulation formats, including wideband CDMA. The model 4530 meter incorporates two independent measurement channels and a wide range of measurement capabilities, such as minimum power, average power, peak-to-average power, peak power, maximum power, continuous-wave power, and RF voltage. The instrument is configured for production testing in automatic-test equipment.
